This piece is a self-portrait. I am shown having crows flying and flowing within my body and emerging through my mouth with tears pouring over my cheeks. I suffer from body dysmorphia, some years much more severe than others. I wage war on my body despite all it has done for me. This piece honours those moments of freedom when BD is not clouding my eyes and I am able to see myself and my body as beautiful and capable. This piece is about the love we have for companion animals. I was quite alone during the first two years of the pandemic, especially in the winter. Aside from the pandemic, I went through some of the worst pain I’ve felt. My cat Sage was there every day, every minute, when I couldn’t sleep at night or when I slept too much. I cradled him in my arms, filling an emotional void the eye couldn’t see. He was my everything and I owed him so much for the unconditional love he gave me. People often make fun of those with deep love for their animals, but I adore all animals that come into my life and am forever grateful for their company. Limited edition print, 25 editions.
