This piece is a self-portrait. I am shown having crows flying and flowing within my body and emerging through my mouth with tears pouring over my cheeks. I suffer from body dysmorphia, some years much more severe than others. I wage war on my body despite all it has done for me. This piece honours those moments of freedom when BD is not clouding my eyes and I am able to see myself and my body as beautiful and capable. That moment of freedom and sadness from the wounds I have caused my body, when it has done nothing but serve me. C≈ìur de Corbeau means “heart of the crow”, an intelligent bird that is family oriented and can be very noise and abrasive. This piece is about the love we have for companion animals. I was quite alone during the first two years of the pandemic, especially in the winter. Aside from the pandemic, I went through some of the worst pain I’ve felt. My cat Sage was there every day, every minute, when I couldn’t sleep at night or when I slept too much. I cradled him in my arms, filling an emotional void the eye couldn’t see. He was my everything and I owed him so much for the unconditional love he gave me. People often make fun of those with deep love for their animals, but I adore all animals that come into my life and am forever grateful for their company. Limited edition print, 25 editions. This piece was crafted during a traumatic time in my life. I was trying to heal and overcome the pain I was feeling and felt like I was torn in two. The feeling and emotion reminded me of waterfalls I had visited in the past, how two waterfalls crashed to the earth together in a thundering roar.
